Square footage adds rectangles. An 18 by 13 room plus a 9 by 8 room is 306 square feet. An L-shaped room is two rows. Feet and metres do not mix in one total. The page also shows the total plus 10 percent, which is a starting waste allowance for flooring, not a store quote. A pattern that has to match can need more.

Paint is wall area, not floor area. One coat is 2 × (length + width) × height, minus doors and windows, then multiplied by the number of coats. A 14 by 10 room with 8-foot walls, 30 square feet of openings, and two coats is 708 square feet. At 107 square feet per litre that is 6.6 litres. The ceiling is not included. The number on the can replaces 107 if the can disagrees. Dark colours and new drywall usually need another coat. Buy a custom mix from one batch.
