Free calculators that answer one question fast.
Pay, Canadian tax limits, loans, and the small math around them. No account. The form is the sum. The note under it says what the sum leaves out.
Read this before you trust the form
A calculator repeats the arithmetic you type. It does not know your contract, your province, or your notice of assessment. These notes say which number belongs in the box, and which official table still wins.
- A paycheque is not the hourly rate times the hours — CPP, EI, vacation pay, and overtime on one $60,000 year.
- Five percent down adds a premium the flyer leaves out — $19,000 on a $500,000 house, then the payment gap.
- Eighteen percent of the meal is not eighteen percent of the till total — $104.80 or $106.67 on an $80 Ontario dinner.
- A 50 percent markup is not a 50 percent margin — $37.50 or $50 on a $25 cost.
- Figures checked on 15 October 2026 — the 2026 tables, and the 2027 EI row that is not in the calculators yet.

The Everyday Fig channel walks through three of these calculators with one set of round numbers, then sends you back here.
- Why a 25% off sign is almost never 25% off — $80 becomes $60, then $67.80 at an Ontario till. Use the discount calculator.
- The overtime hour that pays less than you think — 44 hours at $20 is $880 when the bump starts at 44, and $920 when it starts at 40. Use the overtime calculator.
- GST vs HST on one $80 cart — $84 in Alberta, $90.40 in Ontario. Use the GST/HST calculator.
Why these tools exist
Most people do not want a 40-page finance blog. They want overtime pay, a tip split, or the days until a date. Everyday Fig is a small set of single-purpose calculators. Each page does one job, shows the formula, walks through a worked example, and then shows a second case where the obvious reading of the form is wrong.
The math runs in your browser. There is no account and nothing you type is sent to a server. Pay figures are gross, not take-home. Mortgage payments on this site are principal and interest only. Fitness numbers are screening estimates, not a diagnosis.
How a figure stays on the site
On 15 October 2026 the 2026 EI, CPP, RRSP, TFSA, and mileage figures were read again on Canada.ca and on the Department of Finance automobile release. They match the set already in the calculators. The EI rates page also shows a 2027 row (maximum insurable earnings $70,800, employee rate 1.64 percent). That row is not in the forms. The figures check names each source. The 2026 figures in use are: EI at 1.63 percent outside Quebec and 1.30 percent in Quebec, on a $68,900 maximum; CPP at 5.95 percent up to a $74,600 YMPE after a $3,500 exemption, then CPP2 at 4 percent up to $85,000; the RRSP dollar limit at $33,810; the TFSA dollar limit at $7,000, with $109,000 of lifetime room if you were 18 in 2009 and have never contributed; and the per-kilometre allowance at 73 cents then 67 cents, plus 4 cents in the territories.
Those pages name the source and tell you when the notice of assessment or the year’s official table replaces the estimate. Quebec payroll uses QPP and QPIP, which these CPP and EI forms do not add. When a limit changes, the calculator, the worked example, and the note are updated together. The about page keeps the maintenance notes.
What a page will not do
No calculator here prepares a tax return, a payroll remittance, a mortgage approval, or a medical diagnosis. Overtime rules depend on the workplace and on whether the job is exempt. Sales tax depends on the province and on whether the item is taxable. A due date from a last period is a calendar sketch until a clinician replaces it. If a result looks wrong, the contact page is hello@everydayfig.com.
